This warranty is expressly in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied, including, but not limited to, any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Any warranties that exceed the above obligations are hereby rejected by the Company and excluded from this warranty.

Under no circumstances may the Company be held liable for any special direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages.

All claims under this warranty must be made by contacting your local dealer or the Company who will describe the administration and scope of the warranty. Caterpillar (NI) Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") warrants that new power generation products sold by it are free from defects in materials and workmanship.

The warranty is subject to the following conditions: Warranty period For Model F power generation products in main applications, the warranty period is 12 months from the date of start-up, limited to 2,000 hours.

For standby applications, the warranty period is 24 months from the start-up date, limited to 500 hours per year.

For Model P power generation products in main applications, the warranty period is 12 months from the date of start-up, unlimited hours (8760). For standby applications, the warranty period is 24 months from the date of start-up, limited to 500 hours per year.

For power generation products model P, 4000 series in main applications, the warranty period is 12 months from the date of start-up, unlimited hours (8760 hours) or 24 months from the date of start-up, limited to 6000 hours.

For standby applications, the warranty period is 36 months from the start-up date, limited to 500 hours per year.

The user's responsibilities

The User is responsible for:

  • Install, operate and maintain the generating set in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Return the warranty registration form to the dealer within one month of delivery.
  • Ensure that the initial start-up is carried out by an authorised representative of the company or its dealers.

In exceptional circumstances, commissioning will be cancelled, but only if a pre-delivery inspection has been carried out.

In such circumstances, the guarantee will be deemed to have begun one month and end 13 months after the date of dispatch by the Company.

  • Make the equipment available for repair as soon as the fault appears.
  • Accept the Company's sole judgement as to whether the defective part is defective in material or workmanship.
  • Labour costs, unless otherwise specified under "Company responsibilities".
  • For the avoidance of doubt, the Company is not responsible for any labour costs associated with the removal or reinstallation of equipment on site.
  • The costs and risks of transport/shipping and other costs associated with the replacement of spare parts.
  • Any cost in excess of the purchase price of the product.
  • Other miscellaneous expenses, including but not limited to mail, travel, mileage, accommodation, taxes, telephone calls, overtime, etc., except as noted under "Company Responsibilities".
  • Make any outstanding payment for the purchase of equipment, parts or services relating to equipment under warranty.

The company's responsibilities

If a defect in material or workmanship occurs during the warranty period, the Company during normal business hours and through a FG Wilson dealer's place of business or other source approved by the Company:

  • Replace or, at the company's discretion, repair defective parts.
  • Provide reasonable and customary labour charges to correct the defect, including labour to disconnect and reconnect the product to the attached equipment, brackets and support systems, unless such equipment, brackets and support systems are provided by a third party.
  • Allow for the cost of service supplies such as cooling oil and filters that are rendered unusable by the fault.
  • Provide travel labour, up to four hours and 250 miles return, if the engine is inoperative due to a defect and, in the opinion of the Company, cannot reasonably be transported to a suitable service location.

Limits

This warranty does not cover:

  • Defects due to inappropriate installation, maintenance or use by the user, as judged by the company.
  • Modifications or repairs not authorised by the Company in writing.
  • Any transaction beyond the company's rating or outside the conditions set out on the site.
  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Damage to parts, assemblies, housings, accessories and attachments that are not part of the electrical power product.
  • All time limitations specific to the product.

In force with products manufactured from 1 July 2014.

The Company shall, under no circumstances, be held liable for any special direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages. 

All claims made under this warranty should be made by contacting your local Dealer or the Company who will outline the administration and scope. Caterpillar (NI) Ltd (herein after referred to as "the Company") warrants new electric power generation products sold by it to be free of defects in material and workmanship. 

The warranty is subject to the following: Warranty Period For F Model electric power generation products in prime applications the warranty period is 12 months from date of start-up, limited to 2,000 hours. 

For standby applications the warranty period is 24 months from date of start-up, limited to 500 hours per year. 

For P Model electric power generation products in prime applications the warranty period is 12 months from date of start-up, unlimited hours (8760). For standby applications the warranty period is 24 months from date of start-up, limited to 500 hours per year. 

For P Model, 4000 Series electric power generation products in prime applications the warranty period is 12 months from date of start-up, unlimited hours (8760 hours) or 24 months from date of start-up, limited to 6000 hours.

The User's Responsibilities

  • Installing, operating and maintaining the generator set in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. 
  • Returning the Warranty Registration Form to the dealer within one month of delivery. 
  • Ensuring initial start-up is performed by an authorised representative of the company or it dealers. 

In exceptional circumstances, said start-up will be waived but only if a PreDelivery Inspection has been completed. 

In such circumstances, warranty will be adjudged to have commenced one month and terminated 13 months after the date of shipment by the Company. 

  • Making the equipment available for repair as soon as the defect has become apparent. 
  • Accepting the Company's sole judgement as to whether the faulty part is defective in material or workmanship. 
  • Labour costs, except as stated under "The Company's Responsibilities,". 

For avoidance of doubt, Company is not responsible for labour costs associated with removal or reinstallation of the equipment on site. 

  • The costs and risks for transport/shipping and other charges associated with the replacement of the repair parts. 
  • Any costs in excess of the purchase price of the product. 
  • Other miscellaneous costs including but not limited to courier, travel, mileage, lodging, taxes, telephone calls, overtime, etc., except as stated under "The Company's Responsibilities". 
  • Completing any outstanding payments for the purchase of equipment, parts or services relating to the equipment under warranty. 

The Company's Responsibilities 

If a defect in material or workmanship arises during the warranty period the Company will during normal working hours and through a place of business of a FG Wilson Dealer or other source approved by the Company: 

  • Replace or at the Company's discretion repair the defective parts. 
  • Provide for reasonable and customary labour costs to correct the defect, including labour to disconnect and reconnect the product to it's attached equipment, mountings and support systems, except if such equipment, mountings and support systems are supplied by a third party. 
  • Provide for the cost of service supplies such as coolant oil and filters which are made unserviceable by the defect. 
  • Provide travel labour, up to four hours and 250 miles round trip, if the engine is inoperative due to a defect and, in the opinion of the Company, it cannot reasonably be transported to an appropriate service location. 

Effective with products built on or after 1 July 2014

Limitations 

This warranty does not cover: 

  • Defects due to the user's improper installation, maintenance or use as adjudged by the Company. 
  • Alterations or repairs not authorised by the Company in writing. 
  • Any operation in excess of the Company's rating or outside the stated site conditions. 
  • Normal wear and tear. 
  • Damage to parts, fixtures, housings, attachments and accessory items that are not part of the Electric Power Generation Product. 
  • Any product specific hours limitations.
