Supplying Mongolian coal mines in extremely difficult weather conditions

Monhorus International LLC, a FG Wilson dealer based in Mongolia, has been supporting one of the largest coal mines in southern Mongolia, Usukhzoos LLC's Hurenshand, with FG Wilson generator sets and after-sales support for 7 years.

Usukhzoos LLC's Hurenshand coal mine is located approximately 30 kilometres from Gurvantes Sum's nearest town, Unmugobi. Due to the remoteness of Usukhzoos LLC's Hurenshand coal mine, it was not possible to connect to the local grid as there were a limited number of overhead lines and the substation available was inadequate. Significant investment was required to install 25km of 110kV overhead lines and build a new substation, delaying the investment by several years.

Monhorus International LLC worked with the customer to understand the electrical requirements and delivered a product designed to meet the specific electrical needs of the Usukhzoos LLC's Hurenshand coal mine. Moving the generators to the site was a challenge, as the infrastructure in this area is extremely basic. The generators were installed during the summer and winter months, which also posed challenges for the Monhorus team, as temperatures in the summer peaked at 45 degrees Celsius, while reaching -30 degrees Celsius during the winter months.

The customer has experienced FG Wilson products and our reliable service in the past . The most recent order was for a FG Wilson 2000 kVA generator set. It was a difficult task for us, because for the first time we built the custom container in our workshop".

Main power for mining

In January 2017, Ar Mahn Trading Co. Ltd, FG Wilson's dealer in Myanmar, was awarded a contract for the supply of three P1250P3 diesel generators to Eternal Gold Mining Company. The units are now installed at a mine site in the northern region of Mandalay and are operating at main power.

With this recent order, Eternal Gold Mining now has a fleet of nine FG Wilson generator sets. The units all operate in rugged terrain, in difficult weather conditions and in very remote locations. Throughout, Ar Mahn has provided excellent after-sales support.

Following the delivery of the generators, Uel Mckinney, Sales Director for South East Asia and Australasia, and Leong Siew Hong, Managing Director of FG Wilson Asia Pte Ltd, gave a presentation on the project. presented a plaque to mark Ar Mahn's 20th anniversary as an FG Wilson dealer.
